9,460 sack lunches were given to hungry people who visited MLM in 2024. Help MLM continue to feed the homeless by hosting a packing party with your family and friends.

Gather your family and friends and throw a packing party. Small or large, we can accommodate your group.
Sack Lunch Program
MLM’s Sack Lunch Program provides sack lunches to anyone who is hungry- whether it be a client who is onsite to receive other services or someone who walks in off the street. For many, this may be the only meal they have each day if they are experiencing homelessness.
Thanks to volunteer “packing parties,” MLM is able to distribute sack lunches to people in need of a small meal each day. Packing parties are an easy way, customizable, and meaningful volunteer project for groups of any size and age.
How does a packing party work? Volunteers purchase or hold a collection drive for the items needed for the sack lunches, assemble the bags, and deliver the finished product to MLM. You can also make a contribution to MLM, and we will purchase the supplies for you, and have them shipped directly to you. If you cannot deliver, we are happy to arrange for pick up.
Be sure to decorate the outside of the bags with words of encouragement for our clients, or include a short heartfelt note. Left over items are always welcome at the MLM pant.
Items to Include:
Please include the following items in each sack lunch. Food must be unopened and individually wrapped in the original packaging.

Primary Protein:
Ready-to-eat, non-perishable tuna or chicken salad lunch kit (with crackers included) -
Secondary Protein: (OPTIONAL)
Beef jerky or "peanut butter to go" kit -
1 Packaged Fruit:
Applesauce, Fruit Cup, Fruit Snacks, Fruit Leather -
2 to 3 Non-Perishable Items:
Additional protein item, granola/protein bars, peanut butter/cheese crackers, individual bags of pretzels/popcorn/crackers, cookies, nuts, etc.
- 1 Bottle of Water: Note - Please leave the water outside of the bag
